James, this is for you, or anyone who might be able to help me, but James, I talked to Gail about trying to see if anyone had ever written down a schematic for the Butts Echosonic amp. A friend of mine, who is a professional amp-tech. would like to build two-one for him, and one for me. He and I are both traditional-country/rockabilly players. James, did'nt you help Lorenz Stark build his Echosonic? How did Stark know how to wire it? If anyone could help me Id sure appreciates it! Any info, or stories, or leads are greatly appreciated! I am trying to find the Christmas song that was sung by an Arkansas State Trooper in the late 60's about a boy complaining about not getting a new pair of shoes until he saw a boy with only one foot. This Trooper was later killed in the line of duty while trying to catch a killer in south east Arkansas. I would greatly appreciate knowing where I can find this record again. It was a 45rpm record. I am a retired Police Chief and I think it would be great if this record could be found and played again. Thanks in advance. Jim McCoy - jmretired@arkwest.com

Years ago back into the forties there was a radio personality Named Ford Lewis. He had a 15 minute radio show around 6 AM to 6:15AM M-F. His Theme song was Wonder Valley or "How I long to Wander Down to Wonder Valley". That was the first line of the song. His program was broadcast in California, I don't remember the Station It could be gone for al I know I was10 years old at the time. I would appreciate anything you can give me. He also recorded Judy "You're my Angel Judy you're my darling, you're the sweetest Flower Heaven ever grew" that is just part of it. There was one more hit he had but it slipped my memory at the moment. I was living in Kern County 1938 until 1949 when I was 17 and left for the Navy. Jim Dyess - jtd4@hotmail.com

Hi my name is Robert Hall. I play with a traditional country music band called the High Bridge Band. I am presently recording and producing our first CD. We have the first four demo tracks recorded. Do you think traditional country music will make a comeback? Or should I say, do you feel that today’s country music will get back to its true roots? Do you have any suggestions that would help us promote ourselves? We have several bars here in Kentucky where we live that are willing to put our tunes on their jukebox and there is a radio station here that has said they want to air a few of our tunes. I guess its a start. Thank you, Robert Hall High Bridge Band http://www.digitalrodeo.com/highbridgeband - Highbridgeband@mail.com

Well I'm not sure where this note is going. I'm compelled to write and tell someone about a wonderful experience we that is our whole family. We were treated to two nights of the FREDDY FENDER JR. This was a free concert put on by the Tropicana Express in Laughlin, Nv.on both Oct 3 @ 4 Talk about wonderful the show starts off with this young lady named Ashley Runner she does two or three songs one in English and two in Spanish. The start of the show is when the man himself hits the stage,I have been to approx. 500 different concerts since 1977 This has got to be the best concert ever. The power, the sound, the willingness of Freddy to mingle both before the show and after as well. My wife and I have encountered body guards, security personal alike. The ones Freddy Fender have are the best ever, very gracious. The big bald one they call duke was nice enough to give my wife a picture. After the first the concert the bald guy found my wife brought her over to the so Freddy would sign the picture. That's what I call a true professional. If you folks ever have the chance to see the Freddy Fender Jr.Show treat yourself & your family, your love ones, anyone you will love it! I am 67 years old and seen lots of things this guy is just like his dad was back in San Jose Calif. 2000-2003 before he passed away. Thank you for reading this. Pappa Red - jhnbssll06@yahoo.com

I have met a gentelman that is in the same rest home as my mother-in-law. His name is Dan Hart, he is about 60-70 years old. He used to sing back-up with Merrel, Willey, and has met the King. Of which he speeks of often. He is not in very good health, I would say He has a year or more left. No one ever comes to see him, I think my wife and I are the only ones that drop by his room. We have him sing a song and play his guitar when we do programs for them, he loves to sing of the Lord. We have a gospel trio, and play and sing for the ones in His care. Has any one out there have pictures or old recordings of his past? I would love the do something for him, he is well aware of the way he wasted his life. Could you people help me find his past? I will be recording him singing his best songs soon. In His Service; Rev. Chris D. Jarvis - cdbmjarvis@sbcglobal.net

My Exes From Texas (Larry W. Jones 04/16/2008) (song#5379)

Once in awhile I get a feeling, my heart won't be healing
I can't smile when my future's so dark
I once lived tall down in Texas, where now dwells all my exes
Down in Texas I sure left my mark

Around Texas I travelled, until my life came unravelled
    Somewhere down along the borderline
Over in El Paso, they tried to hang me with a lasso
Over some girl who's no longer mine

My exes from Texas know what a hex is
Cause I know they put one on me all the time
They let me kiss them, now I reminisce them
My exes from Texas are no longer mine

    - instrumental -

There was neat Eileen from Abilene, she was such a sweet dream
My love until she showed me the door
Then I wed Alice from Dallas, but she was full of malice
That red head just wanted more and more

Oh, my Mable was unable to live without her sable
She liked expensive things that were fine
Now I'm no longer sleeping, it's because of all my weeping
My tears seem to flow like table wine

My exes from Texas know what a hex is
Cause I know they put one on me all the time
They let me kiss them, now I reminisce them
My exes from Texas are no longer mine
My exes from Texas are no longer mine

We're NOT asking you to splash out on this charity project, but to help us raise the song's profile. they're raising funds for their tiny school (only 53 on the register) and it;s going out to radio in the USA - which is amazing, since they come from the United Kingdom. If any of you have a Myspace page, Please look us up (it's there on Music under John D Lewis), have a listen to the song and get in touch. Any help we can get would sure be appreciated, and I KNOW that my friend Homer Joy (Streets Of Bakersfield) would appreciate any help you can give too. Thanks for your time. John D. I have a question I hope that someone can give me a clue: when I was a kid (a long time ago) I heard a song on the radio that I have never been able to find. Due to the fact I do not know who sang it or any of the major lyrics. All I know is that it was about a dj who worked the graveyard shift for a radio station and one night he recorded his show, so that he could come home > and spend the night with his wife. only to find her in bed with someone else, with his show in the background. She thought he was at work because he usually recored live. If anyone knows the name a this song or an artist I would to know it. thanks Tracy Baird - elvis_kb@yahoo.com

I've also heard it was done by others including Texas Jim Robertson and Wink Martindale. Could you give me some information, back ground etc; on this wonderful old song. He sang a song about a wedding and the song had some words in it like the bride walking down the isle very slow and the word slow was so drawn out. If there is anyone out there that knows how to contact Lorrie Morgan, I would really appreciate your help. If you know her manager, road manager, booking agent, friend or just anybody that would know how to contact her that would be so helpful. I certainly don't expect to get her phone number or address because I wouldn't give mine out either. I met her a few years ago in Dallas. I think she was there for a private function and I played for the Cowboys. She noticed my Superbowl Ring and we ended up exchanging info-telephone numbers, addresses etc. But after a couple of moves I have lost all the info she gave me. I've already tried to contact every record label that she ever had anything to do with but that's like trying to run through a brick wall. I offered to leave my number and she could call me but that was totally asking too much of them. I'm sure all of you know how "welcome' they can make you feel. Any help or any assistance anyone can give me would be sincerely appreciated. Please contact me at seventhson83@yahoo.com. Thanks for your help. Jerry Higgins

I am searching for a country song written by a very talented female country singer who wrote a song about her and her two brothers. She wrote this song for the older brother because he was dying from cystic fibrosus. I don't remember her name but I do remember that the song came out around 2003 or 2004. I also remember some of the lyrics and it sounded something like this "as we camped out on the living room rug my two brothers and me ... " I also remember that the song was telling him not to worry because she will always be with him and that he soon would have wings. Please help me find this song by this wonderful artis so I can buy her CD. Thank You very much for your help. Jenna - Jennaarmijo@yahoo.com

Hi, i remember the same song as walter. my dad used to sing it to me. but, i remember it a little bit different.
My ma was born in Texas, my pa in Tennessee
They were married in the summer of 1883.
They moved to California the place where I was born
In a long covered wagon, on a bright September morn'.

My cradle was my saddle, my play thing was a gun.
shooting at the rattle-snakes, was my idea of fun.
When I was only seventeen, I rode away from home.
The open range was calling, and my time had come to roam.

There I met a maiden, the flower of the plain.
I married her one morning, which shows I had no brain.
She said she was a maiden, but oh how she did lie.
When the honey-moon was over, seven kids were by her side.

I was disappointed, but said I didn't mind.
I still remained her husband, honest true and kind.
Until the day I found her upon a strangers knee.
As a long lost cousin, he was introduced to me.

I knew that they were lying, so I drew my gun and said
You low down sneakin coyote, and I filled em full of lead.
The jury he found me guilty, and sentenced me for life.
But I'd rather be in prison, than with a faithless wife.

if anyone knows who wrote this song, or what it's called, or anything ... could you please PLEASE e-mail me? thanks sooo much. Amy - amy.gall-@hotmail.com

Hello, what do you think of the idea of joining our group of international 'TRADITIONAL COUNTRY MUSIC FRIENDS'. No membership fees or any payments what-so-ever involved. The idea is to have a group of traditional country music friends, who want to share some of their information, find hard-to-find recordings - maybe swap some material etc... Maybe we can do more than just chat on-line. All you need to do is to contact J.Joutsi at j.joutsi@pp.inet.fi and let us know, you want to be a member in this club.
To start with - you might like the idea of checking our country music website with a lot of information of traditional artists like Roy Acuff, Eddy Arnold, Bobby Bare, Johnny Bond, Johnny Cash, Tommy Cash, Tommy Collins, Dick Curless, Roy Drusky, Dave Dudley, Lefty Frizzell, Merle Haggard, Johnny Horton, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Buck Owens, Jimmie Rodgers, Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams, Hugh X. Lewis, Sherwin Linton, Jerry Reed, Johnny Sea(y), Red Simpson, Mel Tillis, Justin Tubb, Bill Woods, Jenny Lou Carson, Cousin Jody, Riley Crabtree, Duke & The Swingbillies, Denver Duke (=Johnny Eagle Feather), Tex Ferguson & His Drifting Cowboys, Bud Hobbs & His Trail Herders, Dude Martin& His Roundup Gang, Leon Payne etc... There are some of us keeping country traditional, but it is tough with the way major radio is today. That's why you don't hear the greats from the past on there. Hank Williams Shoes (Larry W. Jones 10/15/2006) (song#4068)
    There's never been country music
Like Hank Williams used to play
And I guess that's why I still pick
Hank's kind of music to this day

The words that Hank put his pen to
Were about lost love and blues
No wonder the places I've been to
Got me walkin' in Hank Williams shoes

Romance would always play a part
Even though it was a cheatin' heart
Honky tonk blues and broken dreams
Were infused in his song's themes

Every time I put Hank's records on
They seem to give me another clue
As to why it is that I am drawn
To walkin' in Hank Williams shoes

Now as I travel with my band
I think that somehow I can see
    Something about his writing hand
Wrote some of those songs of me

Hank sang about the common man
The way of life that some men choose
And tonight that's why I understand
I'm walkin' in Hank Williams shoes

For those who may be interested, Volumes 1 & 2 of the Flatt & Scruggs Martha White Grand Ole Opry TV Show have finally been released on DVD. There are two episodes per DVD and each DVD runs a little under an hour. I was very impressed with my copies and the fine picture and sound quality of the black and white film transfer to DVD. After years of listening to their audio recordings, it's even better watching them perform! The first two DVD volumes contain episodes from 1961 and 1962. There are reportedly more volumes coming out this fall. Each DVD contains a neat booklet with photos of the group and the story behind their affiliation with Martha White Flour. For many years it was believed that none of these shows still existed, but 36 different programs were found and donated to the Country Music Hall of Fame by two different sources around 1989. This is about the best bluegrass & old time country that you will ever hear with Lead guitarist Lester Flatt, Fiddle R Paul Warren, Dobro guitarist Josh Graves, and Godfather of the banjo Earl Scruggs all being masters of their craft. Special guests appear on two of the shows. Hylo Brown does a knockout version of "John Henry" on the February 1962 show (volume one) and from August 1961 Mother Maybelle Carter picks and sings "Wildwood Flower" to perfection (volume two). Nostalgic Martha White in-studio baking commercials (two per show) are also included. The DVD's are available from just about every major DVD & video outlet, ebay and The Country Music Hall of Fame. They sell for around $13.00 - $20.00 each depending on who you want to buy from. Flatt & Scruggs contributed significantly in the growth of country music during the 1960's and were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1985. At last, we can finally see them perform together again. C. Taylor - taylorjets68@verizon.net

In the mid 70's I was about 14-15 and fortunate to have known Gene O'Quin, a friend of my parents. I inherited several tape recordings of him singing and talking to me and my family. Gene also gave me a belt buckle, he claimed was from a concert/show, he was given for performing with Elvis Presley. Gene was famous for telling me some pretty lively stories about his performing days, some funny and some just informative.
Does anyone know about when this concert/show he is referring to would have happened? I'm assuming it probably took place in Las Vegas in the early 70's. The buckles were given to all the individuals who worked on this particular concert/show with Elvis. It is a blue guitar with the word Elvis in the middle. Has anyone ever seen anything like this and if so, can you tell me approximate concert/show date? Debbie - kempertrax@yahoo.com

My name is Jeff Meltz and I work for a documentary production company in New York called KPI. I'm currently working on a feature length documentary about Wanda Jackson, the queen of rockabilly and the first lady of rock and roll. It follows Ms. Jackson's musical career that includes hits in the country, rock 'n' roll, gospel and rockabilly genres.
We have been filming on the road, at home, and in the studio with Wanda - getting her story every step of the way. Our working title is "EVERY NIGHT IS SATURDAY NIGHT: THE STORY OF WANDA JACKSON".
Our goal is that this documentary is not just to give this female pioneer her due, but also will act as a catalyst for her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This film will shine a light on the immeasurable impact Wanda Jackson had on the birth of rock 'n' roll.
It is because of Wanda's influence that I'm trying to find footage/home movies or photographs of modern kids doing the rockabilly look. You know what I mean. The cars. The hair. The furniture. The guitars. The lifestyle. I'm trying to illustrate the resurgence that's happened in the past 10 years in regard to the new styles of psychobilly and roots musical groups and fans. Anything you can think of to send to me for inclusion in the documentary would be most helpful. We'd be glad to give a special thanks credit in the film to whomever submits material to us. Please let me know if you know of someone or if you yourself are interested in helping out. Thanks so much!! Jeff Meltz - jmeltz@kpitv.com

Howdy, y'all, Thought I'd stop by to tell y'all about a new radio station called Carolina Country Radio. We are just getting started, and would love it if y'all would check us out and listen to the music we play.
Our station is available on the internet, has CD-quality audio, and - unlike most internet radio stations - C C R C is NOT a station that just streams pre-programmed music. Instead, we have live DJ's (One of our DJ's is in the Country DJ Hall of Fame) on air 24 hours a day/7days a week, playing the best of REAL country music, as well as a great mix of the Rockabilly legends. You won't hear any so-called "new country" on C C R C. What you WILL hear is music by Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Loretta, Tammy, Kitty, Wanda Jackson, Waylon, Willie, Wynn Stewart, Roy Acuff, Hank Snow, Bobby Helms, Narvell Felts, Brenda Lee, and all of the other artists that radio stations won't play these days. You'll also hear new, independent artists who sing and write REAL country music, and live interviews with many artists, such as Freddy Hart, Jack Greene, Merle Haggard, Lawton Williams, Pretty Miss Norma Jean, Jan Howard, Lacy J. Dalton, Eddy Raven, Warner Mack, Lantana, and many others. We broadcast Cowboy Church with Miss Norma Jean, live from Branson, MO. every Sunday at 11:30 AM Eastern time.
We are dial-up-user friendly, and have a complete help section if you have any problems with the audio or the studio. You can listen on broadband (128k) or dial-up (32k), with Windows Media Player, Winamp, Quicktime, RealPlayer, or just open the website (www.carolinacountryradio.com) and listen with our embedded radio. Or, if you would like to join the live broadcasts, come on in to the Country Honky Tonk, our CD-quality broadcast studio, where you can meet and talk to the artists, request songs, and do some socializin' with the DJ's and other country/rockabilly lovers. You never know who will pop in to say howdy. Lawton Williams, BB Watson, Norma Jean, Jan Howard, Jack Greene, Candi Carpenter, Liz Talley, and Freddy Hart are regular visitors, to name a few.
And, this is all at NO CHARGE to you, with no gimmicks, no spyware, no pop-ups, and no registration needed. We don't ask for your email address (unless you choose to join our mailing list for announcements about special guests, etc.), and we don't ask for donations.
So, If you're looking for REAL country/rockabilly music, you'll like Carolina Country Radio. Whether or not you check out our station, Thanks for supporting country music, the way it was meant to be! Ceri - www.carolinacountryradio.com - webmaster@carolinacountryradio.com

Would like to find the song I heard called "Ding-a-ling the Christmas Bell". I heard it about 25 or so years ago. It was on an album. I don't know for sure who sang it but I think was Lynn Anderson. I would like to get it if possible. Also I am trying to find out if the TV show REBA is on DVD and if so how to get it. Thank You. Does anyone know what happened to Bonnie Blue Eyes, whose real name was Loeta Applegate. I understand after her partner, Bob Atcher, went off to war during WW2, she made some appearances on the Gene Autry show, and just sort of disappeared after that. Paul W Urbahns - paul.urbahns@gmail.com

My entire life, I have heard stories about my Granny's cousin, Melbie who had so many shoes that if she lived to be 100 years old, that she would never wear the same pair twice. After checking into this a little, it happens to be that her name is Melba Montgomery. I never heard the name "Earl Montgomery" just someone by the name of "Peanut". I know that this is pretty far-fetched, but I would love to know the link between it all. I don't know the exact contact but, the one thing that I do know is that I LOVE Country Music - and maybe there is a reason that it may be all in the family. I thought maybe you can give me some kind of link to a fan club source or something that may help me. Ancestry.Com doesn't have alot of information for the living. Anything that can help me would be great. Pamela Batchelor - pambatchelor@comcast.net
