There will come a day hopefully, when vintage country will make it's way back to every corner of this country. What's in Nashville is discusting, and in "no way" does it resemble country music. I've played traditinal country for over 40 years up here in the tri state area of Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, and I wouldn't touch this phony "new wave alternate country", as they call it in Nashville, with a hundred foot pole. I've worked on stage with such people as George Jones, Gene Watson, Don Reno, Flatt and Scruggs, and many others. When George Strait did "murder on music row", he was right on the money. Keep your organization going, and if there's any way I can help, please contact me! Sincerely, Bob Cox, P.O.Box 200, Delaware City, De. - rec108@verizon.net

Well just heard Clint Black and Dwight Yocum would be in my area for a concert in June ... thought WOW what a terrific Father's day gift for my Son-in Law {also my daughter and myself} so checked into tickets ... I cannot believe the price I would have to work one 40 hour week to actually pay for tickets hey this is not fair to the workin' class especially not fair to the TRUE ALWAYS BEEN COUNTRY FANS ... only reason some people like country now is because cowboy boots are a fashion statement ... H1! I am currently looking for a sponsor to get the famous Texas Jim Robertson an induction into the Nashville Country Music Hall of Fame. He encouraged the Country music legends as follows: Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Jimmy Dean, Eddie Arnold, and several others. Recently, I acquired a signed photo of Texas Jim Robertson, AKA James Battle Robertson, inscribed to a vaudeville star by the name of Jack Spoons. Texas Jim Robertson's influence was wide- spread in the field of hillbilly, religious, patriotic, honky- tonk and Country Western music. Wake up, keepers of Country Western music history, and give Texas Jim Robertson his proper recognition as a giant in this field of endeavor. Dan Rightmer - Rightmerd51@SBCglobal.net

Dear fellow traditional country music fans, I need help identifying a short song that I recently heard on Sirius's classic country station. I only know the gist of it. The song tells the story of a man expressing his love for, and desire to marry, a woman. He explains that he understands the foibles and follies of woman. He says that he has been hurt before and that until she gets rid of him that he'll continue to love her. I wish I could provide more information but this is all I've got. The song had to be a pre-60's tune. I'd be very, very grateful for the song title. Thanks, Louis. - lmoritz@airmarkcomonents.com

My husband and I bought a 64-1/2 Ford Mustang a few years ago and restored it to its original condition. When we were cleaning out the vehicle to restore it we came across a card from Classy-Chassis Ltd which had information on the back which said "Very rare car 1964-1/2 Mustang first 1 of 50 made. White on White, 4 BBL, Automatic. Original car. Original owner was Elvis Presley, bought for one of his road crew". We are very interested in finding out if there is a bill of sale or purchase agreement proving this statement. We are anxious to have a reply. Thanks. Sandy Narehood - ks64_mustang@hotmail.com

I believe we have too long let other people determine what we want in all aspects of our life, but nowhere is it anymore obvious than in Country Music! Where is the country and why did we let them take it away from us? If by some chance you hear a new song on the radio that actually sounds like country music you can bet you probably won't hear it again. What can the public do to get the country back in our music and let the commercial bullsh** they are putting out and calling it country go to pop or wherever! I would love to hear music with feeling once again and think that it is our right. But how do we get it back? Missing the country in music! Sherry Cochrane - scochrane714@yahoo.com

Rockabilly in it's truest form. Country "kicked up a notch". Don't listen to this in the car because you just can't dance in there. Your gonna tell all your friends and become "Rockit Heads" before you know it.
Bo Porter started playing guitar at age six and by age seven was touring throughout the South with his father Reid Porter and his bluegrass band. In the 1950?s Bo's Dad Reid Porter had a band called The Dixie Playboys. If it's musical heritage your looking for Bo definitely came by it honest. In his teens, he was onstage with the Panhandle Opry in Northwest Florida and by age 17, Bo was touring the country with his own country / rock band. He has appeared on stages from Dolly Wood to Nashville's famed Bluebird Cafe', and his bands have opened for country artists including Doug Stone, Mark Chestnut, Joe Diffie.
In October of 2004 Bo and friends started recording the self titled CD for Bo Porter & The Dixie Rockits that released December 2005. It's been said that The Dixie Rockits are a "Southern Fried Rockit Fueled Frenzy Guaranteed to Send you into Orbit" You can decide that for yourself.
If you're wondering where the name Dixie Rockits came from here's the answer. Because Bo's Dad had a band called the Dixie Playboys, Bo and Ricky decided (with Dad's permission) to use the Dixie part and thought Rockets sounded good. The usual spelling of Rockets didn't suit them though so it was decided that because their tendency to take an old country song and "Rock It" up that they should become the Dixie Rockits, spelled accordingly. Bo Porter & the Dixie Rockits - dixierockits@yahoo.com - www.BoPorter.com

Happy Easter to all the friends we've met over the years. I am working towards creating a few more cds of original songs, one of the albums must be Bluegrass. Not sure with whom this project of lots of love. Let me know how you are doing. I was so terribly sad to read of Dr. Wolfe's going back to God as we had not finished our interview we started at the Clardy Guest House in Murfreesboro, Tn where I resided for nearly 7 years. Robert an Barbara Deaton are still treasured friends and we stay in touch. Dr. Charles Wolfe said to me, after about 4 hours of interview taped by and presided by Lucy Powell, "We've only just begun." He said he was fascinated by an artists inner strength and how some cannot stop working toward their goals no matter what life hands to them. I met Chas Wolfe the first time while working at Bill Monroe's Bluegrass and Country Hall of Fame and Museum on Music valley Drive ... a great, brilliant and benevolent man. Does anyone have any information on Jerry Inman that played at the Palomino in CA. I trying to locate him. His friends called him JI. I was with him in the late 70's. I heard he past away, does anyone know when? Tom T. Hall was a good friend of JI's. If anyone can get a hold of him, he'll know who I am. The last time I seen him was in Orlando around 1985. So if anyone can help on this I would really appreciate it. Thank You very much, Cricket - flr138@cs.com

I have just found your Webb-site last night, and was enjoying it so much, that it was 3am before I knew it. What a Great source of information that is refreshing to read, when today money is First and Foremost. Where is the Standards today? It truly is a Sad time for Real Country Music. I have been expecting, at any day, to hear that Elton John, is appearing on the Grand Ol Opry. How far are we from this happening? I and several friends, have subscribed to XM-Radio, so we can listen to Real Country Music. And to think, that Country Radio Stations, hardly if ever, play any of George Jones today, due to the fact, that He is Too Country!!! I no longer watch any of the Country Award shows, as well as many of my friends. I am in my upper 50's, and remember attending several Country Shows, when there were dress codes, and Great Performances of Great Songs. What you heard on stage, is what you heard on the records or radio!!! You Truly, got your money's worth. I would also like to Thank You, for holding fast, to the beliefs, of what our Nation was built upon. In GOD WE TRUST...Far too many, have forgotten this. Again, Thanks for all that you are doing. Sincerely, Bill Glass - Billglass429@aol.com

Michael, First, thanks for posting. As long as clear channel controls the airwaves, traditional country won't be played. But there is hope in satellite radio like XM radio. We like "Hank's Place". And also internet radio. While there is a return to more traditional country in the mainstream, be aware that it may not be the country music of the past. But what I've been hearing is pretty good. "Whiskey Lullaby" by Brad Paisley & Alison Krauss is a great traditional country song. I hope that the "duet" songs make a comeback. As for the grand ole opry, Pete Fisher needs to get with the program and put artist like Ernie Ashworth & Stonewall Jackson back on the show. As a songwriter of traditional country music, I ask you not to give up hope. While not mainstream yet, it has never died. Besides, why let radio tell you what to listen to or what to buy? Oh, and if you don't know where to find new traditional country music, just go to www.meetrobertmorris.com. I believe that there is almost as many older and middle aged folks that listen to traditional country as young ones that listen to this 'stuff' they call 'country', besides the younger ones who enjoy traditional country as well. Why can't we all band togeather and put pressure on the DJs to start playing the old stuff again? Also, put pressure on the Powers that be in Nashville. Also to push young traditional artist's along the way. I know that they play what is selling at the time. But I say, let's stand up and be heard. When they took all traditional music off the airwaves we all at back and let them do it without a word. We all know there is strenth in numbers. I have played in a country band for 14 Yrs. When they took traditional country off the airwaves we disbanded. Lets put this 'new country', alias rock & roll on the back burnerand get on with the traditional Grand ole' Oprymusic. This is certainly not taking any thing from all these great younger musicans and performers. But have them find their own 'nich'. Thank you, Michael Andrews - guiyarplayer61@yahoo.com

Hi! It is time that Texas Jim Robertson AKA James Battle Robertson, gets his proper recognition as a legend in the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, He has recently gotten more attention in England, Canada. and othe foreign countries in CD and historical recognition than in his native America. It will be a downright shame if this early radio-singing cowboy, hillbilly style performer, and novelty artist is ignored by his peers in the United States. He made 2 fantastic recordings with The Three Suns, appeared with Jimmy Dean & the Wildcats, served as a major star with RCA, made several patriotic records & radio programs to bolster morale in WW2, and became a positive role model for several young country/music stars. Country/Western music historians ,one and all , please look into the life and contributions of this great musician. Dan Rightmer - Rightmerd51@sbcglobal.net

Just wanted to thank you for your piece on Renfro Valley. My daddy got his dose of love for country music hangin' around the barn at Renfro Valley. He tells me the story of fetching A.P. Carter some white shoe polish before a show one night. In exchange, A.P. taught him to play the Wildwood Flower on his guitar. I learned that song from my daddy when my hand was barely big enough to reach around the neck.   He was a poor hillbilly kid with no money - but found himself in the good graces of an unpretentious country music legend. It sure ain't that way anymore. Take care, Beth Davidson, Independent Artist - www.bethsmusic.com - davidson_r@bellsouth.net

Hello! I'm a singer who did some recording in the large Nashville, Columbia recording studio (Old Quanset Hut) in the mid 70's. In the 80's and 90's I requested them to send copies of the session to my home address in Baton Rouge, and they did. Then, in the late 90's (about), I called them to send more copies, and they told me that they (Columbia) no longer had a studio in Nashville, but did have an office. I asked them about my "master tape" and they said that they sent all of the tapes to the people that they had an address on, but must not have had my address. Why not? They'd been comunicating with me for the last 25 or so years! Then I started asking questions, and got some information regarding a fire in the studio. Can anyone tell me is this is true? I's sure like to find the tapes from that session! Thanks, Terry Lee Bozeman - TerryLeeBozeman@Yahoo.com

I sang Little Brown Church and Going Up Home to Green Pastures at the Ryman. I was honored to sing Please Release me with Stu Phillips that same morning. Clogging on the Grand Ole Opry was a dream come true. The whole trip to Nashvile was a memorable one, thanks to my mother Delores Winters. If who ever reads this letter, please tell Porter Wagner thank you and that I love playing Banjo, Guitar, Harmonica and some fiddle. The nice man that sat beside me in the front roll even sent me some pictures of me on the Grand Ole Opry and many other memorable pictures of great stars that were on there too. Hello, I hope someone out there can help me. I am trying to help my neighbor who recently lost her husband and misses him something awful. She is trying to find information on his days in music and that's where I thought someone out there could help. He had told me that back in his early days (30s-early 60s) that he played backup to quite a few artists including Jonny Cash, Hank Willams, etc. He played in bands such as Green River Boys, Hillbillys, North County Boys, etc. This morning on the radio I heard that an early band with Johnny Cash was the Dixie Rhythm Ramblers and would like to know who they were. As with all parts of music the names always change, his name is Robert R. My mother, Isabelle Mary Mansir, aka 'Dusty Randall' sang in the USO during the Korean war. I think it would have been prior to 1952, since that is when her first child was born. She married a serviceman by the name of Raymond Braun. I'm trying to find information on her when she was in the USO. She died quite awhile ago, she was only 38, and I did not know her very well ... although ... she could yodel! How do I go about finding information on someone who performed in the USO? She was an avid country western fan...her favorite singer back then was Elton Britt. I actually got my name from one of his songs ... 'Lorelei'. Not too popular back in the 50's ... but ... it has been a source of pride, knowing how 'eccentric' and unconventional she was way back when. If you could help me in any way, I'd appreciate it. If not ... thanks anyway ... I'll just try to continue my hunt. Sincerely, Lorelei 'Braun' - Ltjsmart1954@aol.com

I am looking for a song sung by a female artist (I believe that her father was also a country singer). The song contained the lyrics "down, down, da da down". It had a fast tempo - but that's all I can remember about the song. It was out several years ago, and would probably fall under the category of country rock. Thanks for your help! Hey, we all agree that our copyrighted songs should be protected, but come on, the record lady wasn't tryng to profit from the songs she posted. And if someone had asked, I am sure she would have gladly removed their song. So where is the middle of the road? Does too much protection, protect our songs into obscurity? They say out of sight is out of mind. Maybe the same can be said about songs that are not getting heard. What do you think? Colonel Robert & Irene Morris - colonelrobert@bellsouth.net
