Coloring Time

Name: Ms. Betty Parsons

I teach part-time at an upstate New York state school and mainly work with children that need a little extra one-on-one time.
Last month a had a funny experience with six-year-old Randy. When I'm working with Randy we usually just talk and try to work through his problem with concentration.
At the close of one of our weekly visits, I notice that he was busy coloring and really not paying too much attention to my chatter. I commented." "Randy, I know you're having a great time coloring, but it's time to put away the crayons as our visit is almost over."
He responded with, "Gee Ms. Parsons, can I please use one more color before we quit?"
I agreed. But he then surprised me by pulling all five different shades of GREEN from the box saying, "These are all one color, OK?"
"Nice try," I said, "but the clock says no."
