Bad Breaks

I was working at a local parts store picking up some parts for a customer's car.
My car was running wanky while in gear but smooth at idle, so I decided to adjust the carb some. The problem was that I didn't have anyone to hold the brake while it was in gear. No problem. I just stepped down on the trusty old emergency brake, dropped her in drive, and got out to do my adjustments.
Before I could get under the hood, the brake released, and the car breaks the front window of the parts store.
I don't know who was more shocked, the parts store owner, or me. I'm was so relieved that no one got hurt.
Well, after that, I had to find another parts store, cause I couldn't face that man again.
